To look backward for a while is to refresh the eye, to restore it, and to render it the more fit for its prime function of looking forward.

Do It Yourself - Interested in doing your own editing of your family movies? We can help! We can transfer your film or video tape to your hard drive or DVD (in a format suitable for editing). We can recommend software and hardware to make the job easier and more fun!

Here's what you need:

  • A reasonably fast computer with a USB 2.0 or Firewire/1394 interface and at least 128MB of memory. For best performance we suggest a computer with a processor speed of at least 2Ghz.
  • A DVD Burner.
  • Preferably your computer should have 2 internal drives - one as your system disk and another to store the video files; the drive used to hold the video files should be formatted to use the NTFS file system. Optionally, a NTFS formatted hard drive in an external enclosure with an interface matching what your computer has (USB or Firewire) - use this drive for additional storage and to get the files from our store to your computer.
  • Editing and DVD Authoring Software (we recommend Sony's Vegas Movie Studio+DVD) as a good entry level video editing and DVD authoring package (click on the link to the right for more info)..
  • Depending on your DVD burner, you may need Nero or CopyToDVD to do the actual burning.
  • Some DVD-RW/+RW media to experiment with (no sense creating coasters with DVD-R/+R media).
